AI for Freight & Logistics

AI agents for freight brokers and 3PLs, built on top of the TMS you already run.

We automate the work that eats your ops team: tender and document intake, EDI onboarding and repair, exception handling, and invoice audit. Fixed-price pilots, one workflow at a time.

Overview

Freight automation by people who know what a 214 is.

Most AI shops will happily sell you an agent and learn your industry on your budget. We came to AI automation through a transportation management system — dispatch, stops, EDI, status events, claims and settlement — so the vocabulary on this page is the vocabulary your ops team uses. That is the whole difference: we argue about accessorial codes and acknowledgement loops, not about prompts.

Nothing here replaces your TMS. The work sits beside it: a thin, instrumented layer that reads the messages and documents arriving from partners, writes clean records into the system you already paid for, and puts anything it cannot classify in front of a human with the raw evidence attached. Your dispatchers keep the screens they know.

Every engagement starts as one fixed-price pilot on one workflow and one trading partner, because a three-week commitment with a number on it is a decision an operations director can actually make. The pilot reports its own numbers — tender-to-load time, hands-off rate, acknowledgement health, exception volume — so the second conversation is about evidence rather than enthusiasm.

Why teams pick Aiinfox

  • Built from a TMS, not a template — dispatch, EDI, status, claims and settlement
  • X12 fluency: 204, 990, 214, 210, 997 envelopes, qualifiers and partner code lists
  • Failure-mode first: we design for the resend, the cancellation and the unmapped code
  • Nothing is discarded — unclassified messages queue with the raw segment attached
  • Fixed-price pilots from $4,500, three weeks, one partner, one lane
  • Every pilot ships its own instrumentation, so the result is measured not argued

Process

How we ship.

01

Thirty-minute technical call

You describe the workflow and the partner. We say plainly whether it is a fit, what the pilot would cover, and what it would not.

02

Samples and the profile

We take the partner's implementation guide and ten sample files, build the profile — delimiters, envelope ids, qualifier map, code lists — and run the samples before writing production code.

03

Three-week pilot

One partner, one lane, one workflow. Parser, writer, acknowledgement loop and exception queue, with the instrumentation switched on from the first day.

04

Runbook and the numbers

You get the runbook your team onboards the next partner with, and the measurements that say whether it worked. Then we decide together whether there is a second workflow.

FAQ

Questions teams actually ask.

Do you replace our TMS?

No. Everything we build sits beside the TMS you already run and writes into it. Your dispatchers keep their screens; the automation takes the typing, the chasing and the reconciling.

Which EDI transaction sets do you work with?

The motor-carrier set a brokerage lives on: 204 load tenders, 990 tender responses, 214 shipment status, 210 invoices and 997 functional acknowledgements, inside standard ISA, GS and ST envelopes.

What does a pilot cost?

A pilot is $4,500 fixed: three weeks, one trading partner, one lane, one workflow. The price is agreed before any work starts, and the scope is written down so there is nothing to argue about later.

What do you need from us to start?

The trading partner's implementation guide, around ten sample files, a test mailbox or sandbox, and one person in operations who can answer questions. Nothing else.

Do you work with our VAN or AS2 setup?

Yes. We read what arrives in your mailbox and write what has to go back out, whichever VAN or AS2 connection carries it. The transport layer is rarely the hard part — the partner's code lists are.

How is this different from hiring an EDI integrator?

An integrator maps the happy path and hands you a document. We build the acknowledgement reconciliation, the idempotent writes and the exception queue that decide whether the integration survives a resend, a cancellation or an unmapped status code, and we leave you the runbook.

Deeper reading: the freight EDI onboarding and repair sheet covers 204, 990, 214, 210 and 997 end to end, the invoice and accessorial audit sheet covers what an invoice has to agree with before it is paid, and what an AI-powered TMS actually automates is the plain-language version for someone being asked to justify the work.
